So Much Paper Mashe All Over You

This is Bailey Cutting and Brooke Rabbidge at Mr White's wood work room, making a big rock for the Twizel Area School production. The production is called George and the Dragon. There were 5 people working on the rock. There are 4 steps;
  • You had to screw up newspaper then put it in the wire and wood frame of the rock.
  • Next you had to paper mache the rock with really sticky glue and newspaper.
  • Then when you were finished  you would paint the first layer of white then maybe another layer after it dried.
  • After all that you would have to paint it grey/black.

Mr Sweney (Honey making)

Mr Sweney came to tell us about how bees
make honey and what it tastes like
fresh. He showed us some dead bees also and
we got to hold them. In this photo  Mr Sweney  is
standing by the honey extractor.He used an electrically
heated knife to take the wax cappings off.He let us
all turn the handle of the extractor. The honey
spins out, hits the side and flows down to the
bottom. The honey tasted pretty good.

Making a Speech....

At the moment we are busy writing and then delivering speeches about a place that is special to us and our families. We have been learning how to make cue cards which we use to prompt us . Some important points to remember are;
  • Stance ie standing with both feet on the ground
  • making eye contact with the audience
  • speaking clearly and with adequate volume
  • speaking fluently ie without "um" or "aaah"
  • use cue cards
Some of us have given our speeches at Junior Assembly.

Welcome to our Blog!

Welcome to Room 5 Blog.We are really looking forward to sharing our class news, work and highlights throughout the year as we continue to learn together. We also look forward to hearing from you by way of comments!
