Today Room 5 did work about Olympic games. Our task was to answer questions about the photos of athletes that we were given. We worked hard and we actually worked
quietly for once!
Once our sheet was completed we moved on to the next sheet yay !!! Some were even up to the next photo and questions.
This man is head butting the soccer ball for a goal.... I wonder if he scored it ???
Room 5 have been doing a study on the 2012 London Olympics. We have learnt that the first olympics were in Olympia, Greece. Some of us have been watch the olympics at home. Some of the olympic sports are swimming, track and field events, archery and hockey. This photo is of Room 5 working hard on their olympics work. GO NEW ZEALAND!!
This is Mrs Sweney reading something about the Modern Olympics which started in 1896 in Athens.
The Winter Olympics began in 1924.
Did you know that the olympics were stopped during the WW1 & WW2?

This week is Te Reo Lauguage week. The theme of Maori language week is," Arohatia Te Reo". Some of us did Maori posters to put in a competition. We have been singing Maori songs[Waiata]. They are "Pu Kupu Maori,"" Purerehua,"," Nga Tae O Nga Putiputi" and "Aoaraki.E". Mrs Sweney said, "He aha tenei?" [What is this?] Then we had to answer, in a sentence , in Maori!
Every morning we have to say to Mrs Sweney, how we feel in Maori. This one of our answers, " Kei te pai ahau whaea Sweney." Also every morning we have a quiz in Maori. What we have to do is match the English words with the Maori words.
I feel so sorry for the Margaret Mayhe family for what has happened. R.I.P. You were one of the best writers I knew. I loved" A lion in the Meadow".
